A Manchester delight as Corneil puts pen to paper for 2024/2025

As new head coach Mike Flanagan looks to build a silverware challenging Manchester Storm, he will need lots of familiar faces to do so. Johnny Corneil has re-signed for a second season in Manchester which has left Storm fans delighted. After joining from Norway in 2023, Corneil became a key player for former coach Matt Ginn as he looked to install a fear factor in his Altrincham side. Flanagan will no doubt be looking to do the same thing as the standards have been set high for him.

Corneil, who plays a very good role in the Storm roster, didn’t contribute as much offensively as he would have liked during the 2023/2024 campaign. Having played on the third line for most of the season, Corneil managed 16 points from 52 league appearances. At only 26, Corneil still had a lot to offer as he entered his prime. This could be a very good season for the Canadian as he will wish to push up the lineup and challenge for trophies with the Storm.

Since turning pro, Corneil has played in Norway as well as the EIHL. During his time in Norway, he definitely impressed as he scored 32 points in 42 games. If Corneil can replicate that season in the UK this time of asking he could be a very big threat to defences and netminders across the league.

To begin with, Corneil could play a middle six role as he can grind plays out as well as produce. This is a good place for Corneil to be as he looks to prove a point and show his worth to Flanagan and the loyal Storm fans.

Johnny Corneil's return to the Manchester Storm brings anticipation for a promising season under new head coach Mike Flanagan. With his proven versatility and determination, Corneil's role in the middle six will be vital as the team aims for success. Fans eagerly await his contributions as he seeks to elevate his game and challenge for trophies with the Storm once again.
