A Steelers delight - Dominic Cormier signs up for the 2024/2025 season

For the first time in six weeks, we have had some signing news from the Sheffield Steelers. And it doesn’t come any better for Steelers fans than Dominic Cormier. The two way defenceman played 56 games in all competitions last season as the Steelers secured grand slam glory. Cormier, who became a fan favourite in Sheffield, has said how he adores the Yorkshire fan base declaring them ‘Best fans in Europe’ which Steelers fans have adopted. Now let’s take a look at how Cormier can help the Steelers defend their titles for the 2024/2025 season.

Last campaign, the 26 year old Canadian helped the Steelers with 28 points in his 46 league games. His great attacking game led to many power play goals for the Steelers as his feeds through traffic and to Mitchell Balmas waiting for the quick release found the back of the net on multiple occasions. During the playoff final, Cormier played 24 minutes and 33 seconds helping his team kill off 4 of 5 penalties. Partnered with Kevin Tansey for the whole of last season, the pair have spoken about how excited they are to be playing again together for the up and coming season. Cormier is known in Sheffield for his excellent skating skills as he dangles between opposing players with ease.

If the Steelers are to retain their treble crown, Cormier will be key in their success as his 200 foot game is unmatched by many across the league. It is of great priority for returning Steelers players to win 3 trophies yet again as Dominic Cormier told Peter Spencer that,”We won’t be satisfied with one or two… we want all three.” Cormier will be a great re-signing for the Steelers with him completely being behind the Steelers system and he is the full complement of partner Kevin Tansey. The pair will likely be the top pairing for the Steelers yet again and most likely be in the conversation for the best pairing in the League.
