Coventry Blaze: Pre-season Games Accidentally Leaked

The Coventry Blaze are one of the only EIHL teams not to have announced their pre-season games however, Blaze season ticket holders were accidentally shown the friendly matchups. These were games against European teams and one former EIHL team.

On the 30th August 2024 the Coventry Blaze are set to face off against the Milton Keynes (MK) Lightning at home. This sets to be a good game as the MK Lightning are a growing squad who are real contenders in the NIHL and the Coventry Blaze have recently rebuilt under Kevin Moore with a youthful roster. Fans will be look to see how Moore does with coaching the Blaze in this game however, with it being a friendly they won’t be too concerned if it is tough.

At the start of September the Essen Mosquitoes from Oberliga Nord in Germany are welcomed to the SkyDome as they face off against the Blaze in their second matchup of the pre-season. The Blaze will be the favourites in this matchup with the skill level of the EIHL being much higher than Germany’s 3rd level of ice hockey however, anything is possible in an ice hockey match and we often see underdogs come out on top.

The 3rd and 4th matchup of the Blaze’s pre-season is against Kyiv Capitals from the Ukrainian Hockey Extra League (UEHL) the top tier of hockey in Ukraine. Yet again Moore’s men will be favourites in this matchup with them holding a higher skill level but as we have seen in the pass the underdogs often pull off the upset.

These are solid matchups for the pre-season and fans are already hyped for them. If the Blaze can pull off the wins it can possibly knock people’s opinions back about their youthful roster. Moore has a long road ahead of him and these four games are crucial for developing team chemistry.
