Dundee Stars: Ticket Prices Up, Now One Of The Most Expensive In The League

Yesterday the tickets for the Dundee Stars v Fife Flyers preseason game went on sale and no fan expected them to be too badly priced especially in the preseason however, they were shocked to find out that they were charging £23 + £2 fees for an adult ticket. This meant it was one of the highest priced tickets in the league.

Last week there was an outcry about the overpriced Manchester Storm webcast but now we have been shocked with potentially an overpriced ticket for the Dundee Stars games. Although this year the Stars may contest higher up they haven’t for the past few years so an increase in ticket price without explanation can be risky.

Running a hockey club is expensive and we have seen teams increase prices last season with one of them being the Fife Flyers however, the directors of the club gave an explanation behind it but this has not been the case for the Dundee Stars. Is this increase because they have overspent or do they feel like their on ice performance will be worthy of that amount.

This increase makes it tough for fans to attend away games to the rink due to the cost of living and cost of fuel at the moment. It would probably cost the average person about £10-15 on fuel from Kirkcaldy to Dundee and back according to the averages found online plus food at the game etc it could cost fans up to £40-50 for one game which some fans may not be interested in paying.

It will be important to see how the Dundee Stars fans react to the price increase too will they still turn up every game despite results or will they just turn up if the team is in good shape. We will keep an eye on fans reactions throughout the week.
