Fife Flyers Snag Star Playmaker Artur Gatiyatov from Kazakhstan

The Fife Flyers signed Continental Cup winner Artur Gatiyatov. Gatiyatov is one of the best players in Kazakhstan. The Fife Flyers recently lost Kyle Osterberg to the Belfast Giants ahead of the 24/25 season but, they may have just found themselves a replacement, possibly an upgrade.

On June 12th former Fife Flyers forward Kyle Osterberg signed for the Belfast Giants meaning the Fife Flyers would be on the hunt for a replacement. On the 15th of June they signed their replacement who many believe is actually an upgrade from Osterberg, he is Artur Gatiyatov. Despite how successful Osterberg’s season was, Gatiyatov CV stands out more to the Flyers fans.

Artur Gatiyatov is a Kazakh ice hockey player from Satpaev, Kazakhstan. He recently played with the Nomad Astana who had a successful run in both the Kazakhstan league and the IIHF Continental Cup. Nomad won a silver medal in their league and Gatiyatov was a huge help as he was one of their best playmakers, leading his team in assists. Nomad also won the IIHF Continental Cup last season in Cardiff, Wales. Gatiyatov helped his team massively as he scored eight points in the tournament, with six of them being assists to his teammates' goals.

The 18/19 season was Gatiyatov’s best season. He played for the Snezhnye Barsy Astana in the Molodyozhnaya Hokkeinaya Liga. He would play 58 games with them, dominating the offensive side of the game, being third in the league for assists (42) and being his team's leading point scorer with 66 points. He would average 1.14 points per game. His 23/24 season was good as well as he demonstrated his playmaking skills assisting 33 goals during his 47 games, he would also score 15 goals showing us all that he can also produce goals himself. He has demonstrated a good offensive read, puck handling and a good defensive read too as he averages around a +/- score of +5.

Artur Gatiyatov’s arrival at the Fife Flyers is generating significant excitement among the team's fans and analysts. His impressive track record, highlighted by his playmaking skills and his recent success with Nomad Astana in the IIHF Continental Cup, positions him as a formidable addition to the team. While Kyle Osterberg’s departure to the Belfast Giants was a significant loss, the acquisition of Gatiyatov not only fills the gap but potentially elevates the team's offensive capabilities. Gatiyatov's consistent performance and ability to contribute both assists and goals make him a valuable asset. With his solid offensive and defensive play, Gatiyatov is poised to make a substantial impact in the upcoming season, and the Fife Flyers’ fans can look forward to an exciting year ahead.
