From Farewell to Homecoming: Andy Little Returns to Kirkcaldy Kestrels After Fife Flyers Departure

Following the announcement of Andrew “Andy” Little's departure from the Fife Flyers earlier today, speculation swirled regarding his next move. Now, the mystery is solved as it's been confirmed that Little has signed with the Kirkcaldy Kestrels, marking his return to a team he hasn't played for in six years. Joining forces with former Fife Flyers players like Kyle Horne, Allan Anderson, and Craig Holland, Little's return to the Kestrels promises an exciting chapter in his hockey journey.

It was announced earlier today that Andy Little has left the Fife Flyers and will be going to another team however, no one knew who and there were various possibilities and now we know; Little returns home to the Kirkcaldy Kestrels. This was announced in a joint announcement with the re-signing of Craig Holland (Kestrels starting netminder for previous seasons), and Cameron Kenny (a youth player who has dressed as a backup for the Fife Flyers and Kirkcaldy Kestrels various times). With the Kestrels now having both Holland and Little it is safe to say there will be some competition for who will be named the clubs starting netminder with Little having the greater knowledge of the sport from playing at the highest level in the UK and Holland having more experience playing for the Kestrels and the better record on the ice in previous seasons.


Andy Little played for the Kirkcaldy Kestrels between the 2015/16 season and the 2017/18 season. He had an up and down journey with them having successful seasons and not so successful seasons. In his first season with the Kestrels he was the best goalie in the league holding a SVS% of .909 which helped the Kestrels win the SNL that season (sadly they didn’t win the playoffs). His second season was good as well as he managed to keep his team in the top five with them finishing 4th in the league and making it to the semi-finals of the playoffs. He however finished out of the top three for SVS% finishing 5th for SVS% on a .864 meaning he fell behind Matthew Michie who had a SVS% of .897. Coming onto his last season he would help the Kestrels to finish 3rd place with his .894 SVS% which put him 5th for the best SVS% being behind Theo Kynoch who had a SVS% of .898. Kestrels would make the final that season however would end up losing to the league winners Dundee Comets.

Andy Little was undeniably a key asset during his previous tenure with the Kestrels, and his move from the Fife Flyers back to the Kirkcaldy Kestrels is a positive development for both his career and the Kestrels' future. This transition ensures that Flyers fans can continue to watch their beloved backup goalie in action, as the Kestrels also play at the Fife Ice Arena. Little's return promises to bolster the Kestrels' lineup and maintain a strong connection with the local fanbase.
