Glasgow Clan Unveils Exciting Duo: Kielb and McLellan Signed for 2024/2025 Season

The Glasgow Clan have announced the signings of Darien Kielb and Tyson McLellan for the upcoming EIHL season and Glasgow fans should be excited! Both of these players are of a young age and have had great European experience as well as tastes of the American East Coast and AHL. Both Kielb and McLellan will be great additions to the Clan who look to wipe out the Morgan era and look forward under new leadership in Corey Neilson.

During the 2023/2024 campaign, forward Tyson McLellan excelled during his time in DEL 2 with EV Landshut where the North American scored 31 points in 38 games. This was McLellan’s third season in Germany with Landshut where he has been a staple for the side. Over his three seasons, McLellan played 133 times whilst racking up an astonishing 136 points. These numbers are none to be messed with as teams and fans look at Glasgow as the centre will no doubt be a pivotal top 6 player. Having an option like McLellan for the power play gives Corey Neilson lots of options with the playmaker suiting the Neilson system well.

As an undersized player, McLellan looks to be a Charlie Combs replacement as he walked out on his Clan contract for 2024/2025. With a player like McLellan, the Clan won’t be short of offence as the high end forward is constantly producing. On a power play unit with players like Mike Pelech and Robert Lachowicz, Neilson will have no end of options for goals.

Now onto defenceman Darien Kielb. Kielb played for various teams in the 2023/2024 campaign as his journeys took him from America to Slovakia. Kielb spent the 11 games playing alongside Giants recruit Scott Conway at HK Dukla Trencin last season, as the 25 year old joined the Slovakian side from the East Coast Hockey League. Across three clubs, Kielb played 34 games last season registering 14 points. A big part of Glasgow’s problem last season was defensive stability, and with additions such as Kielb, it is clear that Coach Corey is wanting to stamp this out and bring back the winning culture to the once great club. The Canadian is defensively oriented and this will be great for the Clan if he is to partner young Brits such as Joe Hazeldine. At 6’3” Kielb is also a big physical presence on the ice and alongside Simon Despres and Chris McKay, Glasgow could have a very strong back end.

The signings of Tyson McLellan and Darien Kielb mark a significant step forward for the Glasgow Clan under Corey Neilson's leadership. McLellan's dynamic offensive prowess and proven track record in Germany, combined with Kielb's defensive stability and physical presence, bolster the team's lineup admirably. With these additions, Neilson aims to restore Glasgow's competitive edge, targeting playoff contention and a deep run in the Challenge Cup. Their contributions promise to elevate the Clan's performance and reignite the club's winning tradition, promising an exciting season ahead for Glasgow fans.
