In Memoriam: Remembering the Hockey Players We Lost During the 2023/24 Season

As the 2024/25 hockey season approaches, we pause to remember the talented players who tragically passed away during the 2023/24 season. Their contributions to the sport and their respective teams will never be forgotten.

Mike Hammond (1990-2023)

Hammond, a talented player known for his successful stints across Europe, tragically lost his life in a car accident in the summer of 2023. Just days before his passing, he was set to be announced as a new signing for the Glasgow Clan. His skill and dedication on the ice will be deeply missed.

Alex Graham (2003-2023)

Graham passed away suddenly shortly after signing his first professional contract. Known for his impressive junior and youth career, he was poised to become one of the best homegrown players in the EIHL. His untimely death is a significant loss to the hockey community.

Adam Johnson (1994-2023)

Johnson passed away last season at a young age. With a promising career that saw him play in the AHL and NHL, Johnson had become one of the top forwards in the EIHL. His passing leaves a void in the hearts of many.

Meghan Moore (1999-2024)

Moore was a victim of a double murder in 2024. After a notable career with the NCAA III (W) side New England College, she was taking a few years off from hockey. Her future in the sport was bright, and her loss is profoundly felt by all who knew her.

Sidney Copalino (2000-2024)

Copalino was the second victim in the same tragic incident that claimed the life of Meghan Moore. Having just finished college in 2023, she was a free agent during the 2023/24 season. With the PWHL gaining momentum and female hockey on the rise, Copalino was a promising candidate for the future. Her untimely death is a significant loss to the hockey world.

As we move forward into the new season, we carry the memories of these players with us, honouring their legacies and remembering the joy they brought to the sport. Their passion for hockey will continue to inspire future generations.
