Rising Flames: Samuel Talbot Ignites Hope In Second Pro Contract

Updated: Jun 15

As Paul Dixon looks to introduce fresh young homegrown blood into this Flames roster, Samuel Talbot has signed up for his second year pro in Guildford. After signing at the start of the 2023/2024 campaign, Talbot played a full season with the Flames after earning his call up from the NIHL. Talbot will be looking to install some of his NIHL form into this 2024/2025 EIHL campaign with the 23 year old looking to up his game with new players such as Sean Norris.

During his career, Talbot has played 49 times for the Flames. In this time, the young Brit registered 5 points in all competitions. This is just a sign of things to come for Talbot as he has previously had 80+ points for the Milton Keynes Lightning in the NIHL. This shows how much of a key goal scoring role Talbot can play as he netted 39 times in 55 games during the 2022/2023 season. This is not the first time that the London born forward has done that as the season prior he scored 69 points in 48 games. As seen from his time in Milton Keynes, Talbot had a keen eye for a top class finish as he had an ability to find the top corner from any distance. This, alongside his impressive skating skills, leads to Talbot being a huge attacking threat for the Flames and this will only improve as Talbot matures and grows his Guildford career.

Talbot will most likely play a bottom six role this season with his ice time likely increasing based upon last season. One possible partnership for Talbot is fellow Brit Sean Norris. Last season, both of these players played fourth line hockey for their clubs. Norris played his hockey for the Belfast Giants and he is now making the switch over to Guildford for the 2024/2025 campaign. This partnership could work really well on a line with import captain Brett Ferguson. This could be an ideal third line for Paul Dixon with all three players capable of scoring in numbers but also being defensively switched on.

Samuel Talbot's return for his second professional year with the Guildford Flames signifies a pivotal moment in his career development. After transitioning from the NIHL and completing a full season with the Flames, Talbot is poised to build on his promising start. With his proven scoring ability and strong skating skills, he brings an exciting dynamic to Guildford's lineup. Teaming up with new arrivals like Sean Norris under Coach Paul Dixon's guidance, Talbot is set to contribute significantly to the team's offensive strategy. As he continues to grow and adapt to the EIHL level, Talbot's role in the Flames' forward lines promises to be both dynamic and crucial in the upcoming 2024/2025 campaign.
